#THE POWER OF BEING AWARE

Human beings are going to be awake, because otherwise, we lose that passion, the same vital force that makes us wake up every morning wanting to do things and go outside for everything, to experiment with energy each and every one of the situations that await us, impregnate ourselves with each sensitive stimulus, relate fully to others and continually learn from that interaction with everything around us.

How to feel more awake in everyday life?

Looking around, we see what, whether we turn our attention to everything around us, as if we focus it on our bodily sensations, we are equally awake. At first, immersed in the daily routine, it can give the feeling that we are awake at times while others are as distracted. But from within, that conception of being awake does not work in such a way.

If we follow it closely, we can see how we are always awake and we can stop being. We are equally awake to something that catches our attention, as we are equally the same when we get bored or being half asleep watching the phone or watching a TV show.

The only difference between these different states is that our attention enters an autopilot state. We are still awake, that does not change, if not, for example we could not process all that information through our mind.

Even so, we can realize how that attention loses focus on the way it unfolds in our experience, and how for example we lose vitality, since our body participates in that lethargy of attention. And all this follows an inertia towards the imbalance in all the fields in which we move daily. As if our actions were dominoes, they fall one after the other with that feeling that we cannot do anything about it.

Over time, we lose control and focus on what is worthwhile and makes us vibrate, something as simple as feeling the living sensations of our body, the emotions that make us vibrate the most, creative thoughts, the perception of our space environment that gives us that feeling of freedom, or the breath that literally gives us oxygen in times of stress or conflict. The list of positive things to focus on is endless, as would the negative. What do we focus on in daily life?

We are surrounded by an incredible amount of stimuli at every moment and learning to know where we put the focus of attention gives us flexible control over our life. And there is no intermediate point, because otherwise we have seen that everything follows a contrary inertia. In the world in which we move daily, everything goes in one direction, one way or the other. When we do not direct attention from the inside, we leave room for unconsciousness to dominate our lives, with that neglect and stagnation that characterizes it. And this unfortunately is fully accepted in our culture and society with all the incredible amount of distractions, starting with the possibilities that our mobile phone, TV or anything else gives us.

"When we lose the power of being awake, we lose too much, both at the level of faculties and all the potential for new creation in each of us."

Actually, when we are fully present it is not that we choose, that comes later when we put the focus of attention. First of all, we enter an awake space where we feel calm, attentive and alive. We enter the same frequency as animals such as lions or leopards, skunks, ants or the same plants. They are always awake and connected to everything, but at the same time moving fluidly with all the changes.

We have this high quality of attention by nature, since we were born, but we are losing that strength because we focus too much on parts of our lives that have told us that it will provide us with happiness, momentary pleasure or what we have always craved What keeps us connected to everything is the serene background attention, which never leaves us.

“The power and strength we seek in something concrete or a future is found right here, in our relationship with the present moment. What defines us at this precise moment and that does not change or has ever changed, that it does not belong to anything in particular nor does it depend on anything with which we can identify? What is always with us invisible, and transparent? ”

There is a natural attention that is part of our true identity, an identity that does not need to be achieved nor is it the product of years of meditation or silence. We feel it as part of us without any effort at the present time.

And it is from here, in our interior, where that serene attention resides that allows us to be ourselves in a relaxed way, to be awake to everything and to be able to recover the good sensations and the illusion to live, feel the energy of the body and enjoy the relationships healthy.
